It is not difficult at all, you only need to do a few things:
1. Register on the Amazon KDP platform here.
2. Choose a theme and product format. You can create e-books, printed books and other physical stationery items such as coloring books, notebooks, calendars and planners. You can choose from a wide range of fiction, non-fiction, business, health, beauty, hobbies, education and other niches.
3. create your product’s cover and interior (you can use, for example, Canva or Adobe software for this – I use Adobe Indesign for text composition and Adobe Photoshop for photo editing). You can also use free tools and templates on the Amazon KDP platform.
4. set a price and launch your product in your chosen market or markets. You can set the price of your product to any amount, but keep in mind that this will affect your commission. You can also offer discounts and promotions to encourage people to buy your products.
And that’s it! You will receive a commission for each sale or share. Commissions of up to 70% are possible. You can also join the KDP Select program and share your e-books on Kindle Unlimited, which of course will increase your reach and earn you more money.
Promotion and marketing
Amazon KDP is a great way to make money for both beginners and advanced people who want to sell their own goods online. Thanks to artificial intelligence, you don’t need to know virtually anything about writing or have any technical skills. All you need is an idea and a strong desire to create good content for your audience.
But of course, as everywhere, even the best product will not sell without advertising. You have several options:
PPC advertising on Amazon KDP
You can advertise your products directly on Amazon KDP in the form of paid advertising. The way it works is that our products are placed on Amazon’s pages as sponsored products. The ads are, of course, pay-per-click or per-view, and how well they perform depends on a number of factors, such as keywords, budget, competition and how well they are optimized.
5 days of free promotion
This is a free way to promote our product by making it available for free for 5 days through the KDP Select program. This option is only for e-books and is designed to increase their visibility, increase downloads and get more reviews. This allows more people to read our book and increases its ranking on Amazon. However, it’s worth knowing that we don’t earn any money from sales during this promotion, and we can’t sell this product anywhere but Amazon for 90 days.
Kindle Countdown Deal
This is a paid way to promote our product by lowering the price for a limited time. It is part of the KDP Select program. It is an option for e-books only and is designed to put time pressure on potential buyers, giving them the feeling that they need to act quickly. This makes our product more well-known and sells better, and we still get the full commission on the reduced price. During this promotion, we can’t change the price of our product for 14 days before and after the promotion, and again Amazon has exclusivity on our product for 90 days (or you get banned and that’s how the Amazon adventure ends).
Social media
This is, of course, a form of marketing that doesn’t cost much or, if you have a large following, can be totally free. It involves the use of social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok or YouTube. We can create content that will inform, educate, entertain or inspire our followers and encourage them to interact and share our posts. We can also reach out to potential customers and show them the value of our products through topic groups, discussion forums and blogs. Social media can be a good way to get more people to learn about and trust our brand and products, but it takes time, effort but most importantly, regularity in publishing material.
E-mail marketing
